Mississauga downs Lindsay in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Vince Figliomeni gave the Mississauga Chargers a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Lindsay Muskies when he scored 4:23 into the extra period.

Mississauga overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Chargers trailed 3-1 after a goal by Lindsay's Jake Ryan at 17:34 in the first period. Mississauga tied things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Joseph Vocino at 14:58 in the third period.

The Chargers got the win behind a great game by Figliomeni, who had two goals and one assist. Figliomeni scored the first of his two goals at 17:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lindsay. Figliomeni's next tally made the score 6-5 Mississauga with 15:37 left in overtime. Cory Hyashi picked up the assist.

Mississauga outdid its season average for goals scored. The Chargers have scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Mississauga took advantage of the Muskies' penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities. The Chargers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mississauga also got points from Jake Harrison, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Hyashi, who also registered two goals and one assist. Patrick Mooney also scored for Mississauga. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Stefano Alonzi, who had two and Aaron Dutra and Berg Zachery, who contributed one a piece.

Lindsay forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Muskies' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lindsay finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Lindsay additionally got points from Ryan, who also had one goal and one assist and Vince Herlihey, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Lindsay also got a goal from Brock Spear as well. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Brandon Washer and James Sterne, who each chipped in one.

Washkurak rejected 33 shots on goal for the Chargers. For Mississauga, Michael Hollister was ejected from the game. Branden Francey recorded 24 saves for the Muskies. Lindsay registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
