Stouffville falls to Cobourg in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Cobourg Cougars' Connor Armour scored 37 seconds into overtime to beat the Stouffville Spirit, 3-2 (OT).

Cobourg overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cougars fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Stouffville's Michael Carcone at 15:46 in the second period. Cobourg tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Stuart King at 10:55 in the third period.

The Spirit's power play was ineffective against the Cougars' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Cobourg's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Stouffville power plays. The Cougars kept Stouffville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 41 saves on 44 shots.

Cobourg also got a goal from Conner Hogg as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Jake Emilio, who had two and Mason Marchment and Mitchell Gibson APJ, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit forced Cobourg goalie Nathan Perry to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Stouffville was helped by Michael Stevens, who registered one goal. Stevens scored 17 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Robert Powers assisted on the tally. More assists for Stouffville came via Matthew Heffernan, Michael Morgan, and Liam ODette, who contributed one a piece.

Perry rejected 33 shots on goal for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Spirit incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
