Whitby rips Georgetown, 5-2Iroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Oct 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury were firing on all cylinders against the Georgetown Raiders, and when the final buzzer sounded Fury emerged with a 5-2 win. Whitby got the win behind a great game by Taylor Best, who had two goals and two assists. Best scored the first of his two goals at 2:19 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Whitby. Greg Milner provided the assist. Best's next tally made the score 4-1 Whitby with 11:56 left in the third period. Mike Panowyk picked up the assist. The Fury forced Georgetown's goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. Michael Singh made 24 stops and Michael McNiven made six. Whitby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Whitby additionally got points from Panowyk, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Milner, who also registered one goal and two assists. Jeff Murray also scored for Whitby. More assists for Whitby came via Connor Hale, Adam Clements, and Jeremy Wu, who each chipped in one. The Raiders were led by Adam Nanji, who racked up two goals. Nanji scored the first of his two goals at 6:28 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. Luke Sanko provided the assist. Nanji's next tally made the score 5-2 Whitby with 18 seconds left in the third period. Michael Courvoisier assisted on the tally. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Liam Clare, who had one. Tyler Feaver recorded 20 saves for the Fury. Whitby incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Georgetown ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Raiders, Kyle Allan was ejected from the game.
