Huge game by Bennett boosts Milton over Burlington, 5-2

Shane Bennett was all over the ice for the Milton Icehawks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Milton's 5-2 win over the Burlington Cougars.

Bennett found the back of the net 2:06 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Milton and again while 18:59 into the second to make the score 5-0 Milton.

Burlington's power play was ineffective against the Icehawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Milton stifled the Cougars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Icehawks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Milton averages 2.6 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Milton additionally got points from Lior Goldenberg, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Milton also got a goal from Kane Elliot as well. More assists for Milton came via Tyler Burns, who had two, Alex Riche, who had three, and Bryce Abraham and Ryan Burns, who contributed one a piece.

Burlington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Icehawks to score on any of their four power plays.

The Cougars were helped by Cooper Richards, who registered one goal and one assist. Richards scored 19:59 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Milton. Steven Mueller picked up the assist. Burlington also got points from Jeremy Gottzmann, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Ben Blacker rejected 16 shots on goal for Milton. The Icehawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Devin Tappendan recorded 16 saves for Burlington. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
