Lindsay outlasts Orangeville, 3-2

The Lindsay Muskies gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Orangeville Flyers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Joseph Vocino secured the win for Lindsay with a goal in the third period.

The Muskies were sparked by Vocino, who registered one goal. Vocino scored 15:53 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lindsay. Jacob Walters picked up the assist.

Lindsay forced Orangeville goalie Taylor Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Muskies could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lindsay also got a goal from Jake Ryan as well. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Austin Brown, Vince Herlihey, Austin Eastman, and Stefan Von Egelbrechten, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Orangeville was helped by Lucas Smilsky, who finished with one goal. Smilsky scored on the power play 8:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lindsay. A hooking penalty on Herlihey had put the Flyers on the power play. Mathew Thompson assisted on the tally. Devon Gillham also scored for Orangeville. More assists for Orangeville came via Kyle Thacker, Jake Derkach, and Emmerson Small, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay's Branden Francey stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Taylor Welsh made 44 saves for Orangeville on 47 shots. The Flyers incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
