Trenton downs Oakville, 5-0

Hunter Fargey finished with one point to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks to a 5-0 victory over the Oakville Blades.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 20:00 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Trenton made Oakville's netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 43 shots and forcing 38 saves. Evan Buitenhuis made 23 stops and Brendan McGlynn made 15. The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blades to score on any of their four power plays. Trenton's defensive play was more effective than usual against Oakville. The Golden Hawks average 2.2 goals allowed per game.

Trenton also got points from Tyler Donaldson, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Fabrizio Ricci, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Trenton also got a goal from Nick Santoro as well. More assists for Trenton came via Bobby Polachek, Chrisitian Lloyd, and Tyler Sehovic, who contributed one a piece.

The Blades were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Oakville had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 10 chances. Oakville was held below its usual level of production. The Blades average 3.8 goals per game. Oakville found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Trenton's defense.

The Golden Hawks took out Denny Dubblestyne after he had made zero saves and installed Emerson Verrier in goal, where he finished with 14 saves and the win. Trenton ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. For the Golden Hawks, Hunter Baker and Santoro were ejected from the contest. Team's Mark Bzowey, Scott Goodman, and Chris Poletek were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
