Farrell leads Newmarket over Milton, 6-3

Behind a great game by Ian Farrell, who had two goals and two assists, the Newmarket Hurricanes defeated the Milton Icehawks, 6-3.

Farrell scored on the power play at 14:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 16:22 into the second to make the score 4-2 Newmarket.

Newmarket made Icehawks' netminders to work all game long, getting 42 shots and forcing 36 saves. Ben Blacker made 20 stops and Tyler Lewis made 16.

Newmarket also got points from Brandon Francisco, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jesse Saban, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Brycin Morrison, who also had one goal and two assists. Newmarket also got a goal from Thomas Beretta as well. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Oshowy Jordan, Adam Smith, Trevor Petersen, Christian Dedonato, and Nik Coric, who each chipped in one.

Milton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Icehawks were helped by Ryan Burns, who registered one goal. Burns scored 4:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Milton. Tye Campbell provided the assist. Shane Bennett also scored for Milton. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Kane Elliot, who had two and Alex Riche, Bryce Abraham, and Stephan Templeton, who contributed one a piece.

Jake Danson recorded 26 saves for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Milton registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
