Bramwell lifts Hamilton over Orangeville, 8-4

Connor Bramwell was all over the ice for the Hamilton Red Wings, as he tallied two goals in Hamilton's 8-4 win over the Orangeville Flyers.

Bramwell found the back of the net on the power play 56 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orangeville and again while 12:27 into the second to make the score 4-3 Orangeville.

The Red Wings made Flyers' netminders to work all game long, taking 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Wyatt Pickrell made 16 stops and Taylor Welsh made 11. Hamilton outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Red Wings average 4.0 goals per contest.

Hamilton additionally got points from Justin Whitwell, who also registered one goal and one assist, Luke Sinclair, who also had one goal and one assist, and Corey Caruso, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hamilton also had goals scored by Cole Poliziani, who had one and Alex Zaccaria, who had two. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Mitch Reid, who had two and Brandon Kolaski, Niko Porikos, Chance MacDonald, Josh LaFrance, and Nathan Gomes, who contributed one a piece.

Orangeville forced Hamilton goalie Corey Foster to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Flyers found themselves short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing 11 power plays.

Orangeville was led by Mathew Thompson, who racked up one goal and two assists. Thompson scored on the power play 4:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Orangeville. The Flyers earned a power play opportunity when LaFrance was put in the box for hooking. Angelpooulos Peter picked up the assist. Orangeville also got points from Keegan Ackerland, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Peter, who also had one goal and one assist. Orangeville also got a goal from Peter Stepanis as well. More assists for Orangeville came via Austin Rigney and Emmerson Small, who each chipped in one.

The Red Wings' Foster stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Hamilton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Orangeville registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
