Whitby erases deficit to stun Georgetown, 3-2

The Whitby Fury rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Georgetown Raiders.

Whitby never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Fury trailed 2-0 after a goal by Georgetown's John Adams at 3:10 in the second period. Whitby tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Jeff Murray at 6:07 in the third period. The Fury scored the game winner at 8:49 in the third period on a goal by Murray.

Whitby was led by Dakota Kettrick, who had one goal.

The Fury kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Singh made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Whitby also got points from Murray, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mitch Emerson also scored for Whitby. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Mike Panowyk, Nick Neal, Adam Clements, and Taylor Best, who each chipped in one.

Georgetown forced Whitby goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Georgetown also got a goal from Anthony Marra as well. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Steve Hladin, Michael Courvoisier, Ryan Smith, and Phil Kiss, who contributed one a piece.

Diclemente rejected 30 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keegan Cairns was ejected from the game. The Raiders totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Georgetown, Kyle Allan was ejected from the game.
