Pickering boosted by Dombrosky's play in net, beats Wellington 2-1

The Pickering Panthers relied on the sparkling performance of Steven Dombrosky in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Wellington Dukes.

Pickering pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Panthers were led by Michael Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored on the power play 5:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Pickering had taken the advantage when Wellington's Greg Christmas got sent off for holding. Sean Power provided the assist.

The Panthers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Dukes to score on any of their six power plays.

Brodie Tutton also scored for Pickering. More assists for Pickering came via Nicholas Lepone, who had one and Tanner Shaw, who had two.

Wellington could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Dukes average 3.2 goals per game. Wellington forced Pickering goalie Dombrosky to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Dukes were led by Mike Soucier, who scored the team's only goal. Soucier scored 11:39 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Spencer Turcotte picked up the assist.

The Panthers' Dombrosky stopped 33 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Pickering registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Lucas Machalski rejected 22 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
