The Aurora Tigers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the North York Rangers held on for a 3-2 victory. North York made the score 3-1 on a goal by Gabriel Valenzuela at 8:48 in the third period, and Aurora got as close as 3-2 when Eric Williams scored 17:39 into the third period. The Rangers were sparked by Valenzuela, who racked up one goal. North York's offense rang up 40 shots on the Tigers' net. North York also got a goal from Liam Kerins as well. More assists for North York came via Patrick Piacentini, Valadao Adam, Anthony Latina, Corey Kalk, and Matthew Whittaker, who contributed one a piece. Aurora forced the Rangers goalie Gianluca Baggetta to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Team could not crack North York's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Michael Laidley also scored for Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Alex Gilmour, Noah Delmas, and Adam DiBrina, who each chipped in one. The Rangers' Baggetta stopped 39 shots out of the 41 that he faced. North York incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Rangers, Kalk was ejected from the game. Kevin Entmaa recorded 37 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Tigers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Bernard was ejected from the game. |
