Kingston survives Aurora comeback, wins 3-1

The Kingston Voyageurs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Aurora Tigers on the way to a 3-1 win.

Kingston made the score 3-0 on a goal by Michael Casale at 19:35 in the second period, and Aurora got as close as 3-1 when Jordan Peacock scored 19:07 into the third period.

The Voyageurs got the win on the strength of a great game by Casale, who had two goals and one assist. Casale scored the first of his two goals at 10:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kingston. Adam Brady picked up the assist. Casale's next tally made the score Kingston with 25 seconds left in the second period. Patrick Volpe provided the assist.

Kingston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Voyageurs forced the Tigers goalie Andy Munroe to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Kingston also got points from Brett Seney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Zachary Emelifeonwu, who had one.

Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kingston to score on any of its four power plays. The Tigers kept the Voyageurs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Brooks-Potts made 31 saves on 32 shots.

In addition, Aurora received assists from Taylor McCloy, who had one.

Kingston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Voyageurs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jarret Kup was ejected from the game. Andy Munroe made 29 saves for Aurora on 32 shots. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
