Cobourg survives Oakville comeback, wins 4-3

The Cobourg Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Oakville Blades on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Liam Grande put Cobourg up 4-2 in the third period, but Oakville pulled to within one on Keigan Goetz's tally 19:48 into the third period.

Connor Armour was all over the ice for the Cougars, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Armour scored the first of his two goals at 4:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Mason Marchment picked up the assist. Armour's next tally made the score 2-1 Cobourg with 47 seconds left in the first period. Marchment provided the assist.

Cobourg's offense rang up 45 shots on the Blades' net. The Cougars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Cobourg also got points from Conner Hogg, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Cobourg came via TJ Melancon, Alex D Oliveira, and Stuart King, who contributed one a piece.

Oakville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Cobourg power plays.

The Blades were helped by Vince Palermo, who registered one goal. Palermo scored on the power play 4:07 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Oakville had gotten the advantage when Cobourg's Theo Lewis was sent off for charging. Ross Sloan picked up the assist. Sean Kohler also scored for Oakville. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Daniel Jelic and Joe Seney, who each chipped in one.

Nathan Perry made 15 saves for the Cougars on 18 shots. Evan Buitenhuis rejected 41 shots on goal for the Blades. Oakville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
