Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Milton Icehawks defeated the Pickering Panthers in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Milton saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Icehawks made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Kane Elliot at 14:14 in the second period. Pickering evened things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Brodie Tutton at 11:11 in the third period. In a losing effort, the Panthers were led by Michael Walker, who registered two goals. Walker scored the first of his two goals at 3:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Tanner Shaw assisted on the tally. Walker's next tally made the score 2-2 with 10:32 left in the second period. Pickering found itself down a man on Mike Nedoszytko's hooking. Shaw picked up the assist. Milton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. The Icehawks were helped by Josh Pace, who grabbed one goal. Pace scored on the power play 10:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Milton. Tyler Burns provided the assist. Milton additionally got points from Alex Riche, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ryan Burns also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Bryce Abraham, Daniel Poutscongas, and Stephan Templeton, who contributed one a piece. The Panthers' offense rang up 49 shots on Milton's net. Team could not crack the Icehawks' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Pickering also got points from Shaw, who also tallied one goal and three assists and Tutton, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Nicholas Lepone, who had one. Milton's Ben Blacker stopped 45 shots out of the 49 that he faced. The Icehawks registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Milton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dante Cannatella was ejected from the game. Steven Dombrosky rejected 22 shots on goal for Pickering. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Pickering, Nedoszytko was ejected from the game.
