The Buffalo Jr. Sabres survived a determined comeback attempt by the North York Rangers on the way to a 4-2 win. Buffalo made the score 4-1 on a goal by Nolan Sheeran at 14:03 in the third period, and North York got as close as 4-2 when Anthony Latina scored 16:49 into the third period. The Jr. Sabres' penalty kill excelled, as Buffalo gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Jr. Sabres' offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers' net. Team could not crack North York's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 11 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Buffalo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Jr. Sabres were helped by Josh Gabriel, who racked up one goal. Gabriel scored short handed 19:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Buffalo. A holding call on Jason Heerdt put Buffalo on the penalty kill. Mason Evans picked up the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Darren McCormick as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Ryan Schmelzer, who had two and Michael Ederer, Nick Desimone, and Pat Egan, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Sabres were unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and North York eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Rangers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as North York finished with 40 penalty minutes. The Rangers were helped by Gabriel Valenzuela, who had one goal. Valenzuela scored on the power play 8:08 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North York. North York earned a power play opportunity when Daniel Lafontaine was put in the box for hooking. Fung Zachary provided the assist. More assists for North York came via Patrick Piacentini and Michael Giacometti, who each chipped in one. Buffalo's Joseph Pianta stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Jason Pucciarelli made 27 saves for the Rangers on 31 shots.
