The Carleton Place Canadians and the Cornwall Colts were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Carleton Place made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Evan Peterson secured the win for the Canadians with a goal in the third period. Peterson had two goals to lead Carleton Place to victory. Carleton Place additionally got points from Andy Sturtz, who also had one goal and two assists and Stephen Baylis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kelly Summers also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Anthony McVeigh, who had one and Anthony Latina, who had two. Cornwall was helped by Kevin Hope, who registered one goal and one assist. Hope scored on the power play 1:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. The Colts had taken the advantage when the Canadians' Latina got sent off for cross checking. Jay DAmour provided the assist. Cornwall also got points from Pierre Ouellette, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Marly Quince as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tanner Spink, who had one and Billy Ulrick, who had two. Justin Laforest made 25 saves for Carleton Place on 28 shots. The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. James Edwardson recorded 23 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
