Pikul stymies Kanata, Brockville wins 5-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Andrew Pikul helped the Brockville Braves defeat the Kanata Stallions, 5-1.

Brockville was sparked by Andrew Peski, who racked up one goal and one assist. Peski scored 18:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Eric Israel provided the assist.

The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Brockville additionally got points from Israel, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brockville included Anthony Walsh, Sean King, and Ryan Cusin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Owen Gill, Jared Henry, Jonathan Power, Nathan Todd, Cory Wilson, and Matthew Lourenco, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata was held below its usual level of production. The Stallions put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Kanata was led by Nicolas Tremblay, who scored the team's only goal. Tremblay scored 11:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Keegan Rowe assisted on the tally.

Brockville's Pikul stopped 25 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Braves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cole Skinner made 20 saves for the Stallions on 24 shots. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
