Ottawa downs Kanata, 5-2

The Ottawa Senators won 5-2 over the Kanata Stallions.

Ottawa kept Kanata's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Skinner made 27 saves on 32 shots.

The Senators were led by Shawn Lynch, who finished with one goal and two assists. Lynch scored 4:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Michael Evelyn picked up the assist. Ottawa additionally got points from Joe Shecter, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Yannick Crete, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Ottawa also had goals scored by Eric Clitsome and Thomas Crevier, who each put in one. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Luc Deschamps, who had two and Joey Champigny and Geoffrey Lawson, who each chipped in one.

The Stallions were led by Alex Stothart, who registered two goals. Stothart scored the first of his two goals at 11:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kris Myllari assisted on the tally. Stothart's next tally made the score 3-2 Ottawa with 12:03 left in the third period. A roughing penalty on Chad Millett had put Kanata on the power play. Alex Robinson picked up the assist. More assists for Kanata came via Jason Brochu and Jeremy Carigan, who contributed one a piece.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 13 saves for Ottawa on 15 shots. The Senators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Stallions incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
