Carleton Place rips Ottawa, 7-3

The Carleton Place Canadians had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators.

Evan Peterson was all over the ice for Carleton Place, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Peterson scored on the power play 3:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Canadians had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Zachary Rheaume was sent off for high sticking. Andy Sturtz provided the assist.

In the losing effort, the Senators were led by Hunter Racine, who grabbed two goals. Racine scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:40 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Carleton Place. Ottawa had gained a power play chance when Devin Campbell was whistled for roughing. Deric Boudreau picked up the assist. Racine's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Carleton Place with 6:26 left in the third period. The Senators had taken the advantage when Carleton Place's Luke Edwards got sent off for hooking. Zac Tierney assisted on the tally.

The Canadians' goal total was higher than their season average. Carleton Place has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Stephen Cooney, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Sturtz, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Craig Pefley, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Vinny Post and Andrew Dodson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Larry Smith, who had two and Adam Lloyd, Brett DAndrea, and Stephen Bayliss, who each chipped in one.

Ottawa also got points from Tierney, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Ottawa came via David Chevrier, who had one.

Justin Laforest made 27 saves for the Canadians on 30 shots. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ottawa's starting goalie, Alexandre Savard-Belanger, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ian Andriano, who stopped 12 shots. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
