Ottawa outlasts Pembroke, 4-2

The Ottawa Senators gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Ottawa gained the winning advantage on a goal by Deric Boudreau 13:04 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Senators were sparked by Boudreau, who tallied one goal and one assist.

Ottawa managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Senators finished below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Pembroke was unable to stop Ottawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Senators eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Ottawa additionally got points from Justin Charbonneau, who also had one goal and one assist and Luc Deschamps, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Shawn Lynch as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Hunter Racine, who had two and Joe Shecter, Mike Martin, and Joey Champigny, who each chipped in one.

The Lumber Kings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Pembroke ended up below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Felix Chamberland, who racked up one goal. Chamberland scored 4:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Reid Murphy assisted on the tally. Colin Kruse also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Mark Petaccio, Mac MacSorley, and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one a piece.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 23 saves for Ottawa on 25 shots. The Senators registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Darren Smith rejected 33 shots on goal for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
