Cumberland falls to Kemptville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Kemptville 73s pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Cumberland Grads on a clutch goal by Dean Galasso.

Kemptville almost relinquished a two-score lead. The 73s made it 4-2 on a goal by David Higgs at 15:22 in the third period. Cumberland got to within 4-3 on a goal by Mark Golberg at 15:58 in the third period.

Kemptville got the win with help from a great game by Galasso, who had two goals and one assist. Galasso scored the first of his two goals at 1:02 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Kemptville. Jesse Blais assisted on the tally. Galasso's next tally made the score 5-4 Kemptville with 17:28 left in overtime. Cody Hendsbee picked up the assist.

Kemptville also got points from Blais, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jake Gaudet also scored for Kemptville. More assists for Kemptville came via Ben St Marseille, who had one and Dylan Giberson, who had two.

The Grads put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the 73s to score on any of their seven power plays. Cumberland's offense rang up 39 shots on Kemptville's net.

The Grads were led by Travis Douglas, who registered one goal and two assists. Douglas scored on the power play 8:46 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kemptville. Cumberland earned a power play opportunity when Blais was put in the box for roughing. Matthew Dupont assisted on the tally. Cumberland additionally got points from Bobby Williams, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Golberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Martin Frechette as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Tyler Pancel, who had one and David Bennett, who had two.

Matt Couvrette rejected 35 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Grads' Reilly Turner stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
