The Ottawa Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Hawkesbury Hawks on the way to a 3-1 win. A goal by Joey Larcher put Ottawa up 3-0 in the third period, but Hawkesbury pulled to within two on Carl Faucher's tally 10:04 into the third period. The Senators were paced by Shawn Lynch, who grabbed one goal. Lynch scored on the power play 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Ottawa had taken the advantage when the Hawks' Francis Landers got sent off for slashing. Ryan Collins assisted on the tally. The Senators' offense rang up 37 shots on Hawkesbury's net. Joey Champigny also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Luc Deschamps, who had two and Robert Michel, Jason Wilson, and William Bitten, who each chipped in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Zach Car and Yanik Laliberte, who contributed one a piece. Ottawa's Alexandre Savard-Belanger stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cory Simic recorded 34 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
