Kanata downs Nepean in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Kanata Stallions pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Nepean Raiders on a clutch goal by Chris Harper.

Kanata was led by goalie Cole Skinner, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Skinner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.88 entering the contest.

The Stallions were led by Harper, who racked up one goal. Harper scored on the power play 51 seconds into overtime to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Kanata earned a power play opportunity when Felix Page was put in the box for high sticking.

The Stallions put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Nepean to score on any of its five power plays.

Kanata also got a goal from Nic LaBurn as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Alex Robinson and JP Langlois, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Nepean surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Nepean averages 3.7 goals per game.

The Raiders were led by Michael Vered, who scored the team's only goal. Vered scored 18:21 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Philippe Gadoury picked up the assist.

Kanata totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-9 on the power play. The Stallions ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Robinson was ejected from the game. Brett Magnus recorded 22 saves for Nepean. For the Raiders, Tanner Williams was ejected from the game.
