Skidmore stymies Kanata, Pembroke wins 4-1Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Oct 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings relied on the sparkling performance of Nate Skidmore in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Kanata Stallions. Kanata's power play was ineffective against Pembroke's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Lumber Kings were paced by Brandon Kosik, who registered one goal. Kosik scored 6:52 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Jake Staples assisted on the tally. Pembroke put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their six power plays. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 32 shots on Kanata's net. Pembroke additionally got points from Mark Petaccio, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Staples also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Mac MacSorley and Darcy Haines, who each chipped in one. The Stallions' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pembroke power plays. Kanata did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Stallions put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Kanata was led by Alex Robinson, who scored the team's only goal. Robinson scored 10:23 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Jason Brochu provided the assist. Nate Skidmore made 27 saves for Pembroke on 28 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gunner Rivers rejected 28 shots on goal for the Stallions. Kanata incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
