Robitaille nets hat trick, leads Nepean to 6-4 win over Cumberland

A hat trick by Max Robitaille was the highlight in Raiders' 6-4 win against the Cumberland Grads.

Robitaille notched his first tally 13:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:52 into the second and at 9:48 into the third.

The Nepean Raiders' offense rang up 49 shots on Cumberland's net. Nepean outdid its season average for goals scored. The Raiders average 3.9 goals per game.

Nepean also got points from Christopher Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Felix Page also scored for Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Francesco Iannantuono, who had two, Philippe Gadoury, who had four, and David Chiarelli, Michael Constantine, Alexander Sifton, and Mitchell Herlihey, who each chipped in one.

The Grads forced Nepean's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 33 shots and forcing 29 saves. Ryan Mulder made seven stops and Brett Magnus made 22.

Cumberland was led by Matthew Dupont, who finished with two goals and one assist. Dupont scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:40 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. The Grads had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Tanner Williams was sent off for interference. Travis Douglas assisted on the tally. Dupont's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Cumberland with 5:44 left in the second period. Douglas picked up the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Riley Hennigar as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Brandon Grillo, Neil Penner, Peter Segouin, and Matthew Morin, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kevin Gollmer rejected 43 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
