Savard-Belanger leads Ottawa to shutout victory over Gloucester

Alexandre Savard-Belanger was superb between the pipes for the Ottawa Senators, as he did not allow a goal in a 7-0 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

Ottawa was sparked by Zachary Rheaume, who racked up one goal. Rheaume scored 2:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Joey Champigny provided the assist.

The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Ottawa's offense rang up 54 shots on Gloucester's net. The Senators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Ottawa averages 4.5 goals per game.

Ottawa additionally got points from Shawn Lynch, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Justin Charbonneau, who also had one goal and one assist. Ottawa also had goals scored by Chris King, who had two and Zac Tierney and Hunter Racine, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Deric Boudreau, who had two and Ryan Collins, Joe Shecter, Eric Clitsome, Luc Deschamps, and Nicholas Ford, who contributed one a piece.

The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Gloucester averages 2.8 goals per game. The Rangers kept the Senators' goalie busy throughout the game, and Savard-Belanger made 31 saves on 31 shots.

Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gloucester's Danick Boisvert stopped 47 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
