Cornwall outlasts Ottawa, 4-2

The Cornwall Colts gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Ottawa Senators.

Cornwall gained the winning advantage on a goal by Cal Hofford 7:11 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Colts were led by Hofford, who had one goal.

Cornwall kept Ottawa's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Cornwall also got a goal from Grant Cooper as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Pierre Ouellette, who had one and Dean Derouchie, who had two.

The Senators could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Ottawa puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. The Senators forced the Colts goalie Jordan Piccolino to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Ottawa was helped by Greg Jansz, who finished with one goal. Jansz scored on the power play 14:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Senators earned a power play opportunity when Ouellette was put in the box for interference. Chris King picked up the assist. Eric Clitsome also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Ryan Collins and Justin Charbonneau, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino made 32 saves for Cornwall on 34 shots. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ottawa incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
