Huge game by Lynch boosts Ottawa over Kemptville, 7-3

The Ottawa Senators' Shawn Lynch had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Kemptville 73s.

Lynch found the back of the net 11:56 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Ottawa and again while on the power play 11:29 into the third to make the score 7-2 Ottawa.

Kemptville was unable to stop Ottawa from sending pucks towards the net, and the Senators eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Ottawa surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Senators have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Ottawa also got points from Ryan Collins, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Justin Charbonneau, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Eric Clitsome, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Hunter Racine, who also had one goal and two assists. Ottawa also got a goal from Thomas Crevier as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Joe Shecter and David Chevrier, who each chipped in one and Greg Jansz and Joey Champigny, who contributed two a piece.

The 73s' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Kemptville finished with 20 penalty minutes.

The 73s were helped by Jesse Blais, who racked up two goals. Blais scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville. Kemptville had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Michael Evelyn was sent off for roughing. Jonathon Masters picked up the assist. Blais' next tally on the power play made the score 7-3 Ottawa with 7:43 left in the third period. Brandon Seatter assisted on the tally. Dylan Giberson also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from C Quinn, who had one and Jonathan Cyr, who had two.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 23 saves for the Senators on 26 shots. Ottawa incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jacob Lucier rejected 24 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
