Team Midwest beats Team Ohio 5-3 after comeback scare

Team Midwest survived a determined comeback attempt by Team Ohio on the way to a 5-3 win.

Team Midwest took a 5-2 lead during the second period, only to have Team Ohio storm back on a Tom Diffendal goal 2:07 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Team Midwest was paced by Brennan Anderson, who grabbed one goal. Anderson scored 15:57 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Team Midwest. Cody Lichtenvoort provided the assist.

Team Midwest made Team Ohio's goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. David Heflin made 13 stops and Joseph Moza made 18. Team Midwest got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Team Midwest additionally got points from Lichtenvoort, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jason Hoehn, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Team Midwest also got a goal from Lukas Daniels as well. Other players who recorded assists for Team Midwest were DJ Mussey, Cory Kettler, and Easton Halbert, who contributed one a piece.

Team Ohio was led by Jake Roeper, who racked up one goal and one assist. Roeper scored 3:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Team Ohio. Mike Palasics also scored for Team Ohio. More assists for Team Ohio came via Kevin Kenny, who had one.

Team Midwest took out Clint Steinmeyer after he had made 12 saves and installed Alex Reichle in goal, where he finished with 12 saves and the win. Team Midwest incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Team Ohio incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
