Team Central rips Team East, 7-2

Team Central had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over Team East.

Hunter Zandee had two goals to lead Team Central to victory. Zandee scored at 12:40 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Team Central and again while 12:29 into the third to make the score 7-2 Team Central.

Team Central was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Team Central had been averaging 14.0 minutes in penalties per game. Team Central put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Team East to score on any of its five power plays. Team Central found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Team Central averages 3.7 goals per contest.

Team Central additionally got points from Alex Klaesner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Trevor Thornton also scored for Team Central. More assists for Team Central came via Daniel Nachbar, Kai Robinson, and Braiden Miller, who contributed one a piece.

Team East forced Team Central's goaltenders to work in net, taking 42 shots and forcing 40 saves. Bradley Amato made 23 stops and Jaxson Gosnell made 17. Team East's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Team Central power plays. Team East could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Team East was helped by Trevor Recktenwald, who finished with one goal. Recktenwald scored 5:44 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Team Central. Joe Bender assisted on the tally. Team East also got a goal from Alex Sauer as well. In addition, Team East received assists from Evan Okeley and Tristan Ramage, who each chipped in one.

For Team Central, Daniel Sosa was ejected from the game. Joseph Licata took the loss and made five saves before being replaced by Nick Bretzger who made seven saves.
