The Wichita Thunder came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Fort Worth Brahmas, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory.

Wichita led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Thunder's RG Flath's scored at 13:04 in the first period to put Wichita up 3-0.

The win gave the Thunder a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Wichita was paced by Gregor Hanson, who racked up one goal. Hanson scored 11:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wichita. Nathan Lutz provided the assist.

The Thunder were led by Hanson, who had one goal.

Wichita's penalty kill unit could not stop Fort Worth's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Ian Lowe also scored for Wichita. In addition, Wichita received assists from Matt Summers, who had two and Chad Painchaud, Travis Wight, Kevin Young, and Matt Robinson, who each chipped in one.

The Brahmas relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Sy Nutkevitch, Shawn Szydlowski and Phil Fox took 13 of the team's 25 shots. Fort Worth got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Brahmas were led by Ross Rouleau, who finished with two goals. Rouleau scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wichita. Fort Worth earned a power play opportunity when Wight was put in the box for tripping. Tomas Klempa assisted on the tally. Rouleau's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Wichita with 12:09 left in the second period. The Brahmas had taken the advantage when the Thunder's Lutz got sent off for elbowing. Derrick Pallis provided the assist. Fort Worth also got a goal from Colin Mulvey as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were Jared Lavender and Ricky Helmbrecht, who contributed one a piece.

Torrie Jung recorded 22 saves for Wichita. The Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Fort Worth took out Kristofer Westblom after he had made three saves and installed Brad Fogal in goal, where he finished with 15 saves and the loss. The Brahmas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
