Wenatchee squeaks by Fresno, 4-2Gateway IC Thu, Apr 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Fresno Monsters. Wenatchee gained the winning advantage on a goal by Chris Kerr 4:10 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. The Wild evened the best of five series at 2-2 and forced a deciding game five. Jacob Barber had a great game for Wenatchee, netting two goals. Barber scored on the power play at 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee and again while on the power play 5:11 into the third to make the score 3-1 Wenatchee. The Wild's offense rang up 35 shots on Fresno's net. Wenatchee cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. Wenatchee also got points from Kerr, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Max McHugh, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Noah Nelson, who had two and Jono Davis, who had three. The Monsters were led by Gordon Wells, who registered one goal and one assist. Wells scored on the power play 8:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Fresno earned a power play opportunity when Nelson was put in the box for hooking. Kyle Sucher provided the assist. Fresno also got a goal from Karl Andersen as well. In addition, Fresno received assists from Dan Sherer, who had two. Robert Nichols rejected 23 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tomas Sholl recorded 31 saves for the Monsters. Fresno totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Monsters, Chase Sisk was ejected from the game.
