Jamestown blows out Kalamazoo, 7-1

The Jamestown Ironmen had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings.

The win gave Jamestown a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

The Ironmen got the win thanks to a great game by Tyler Dunagan, who had one goal and two assists. Dunagan scored 3:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jamestown. Dylan Zink provided the assist.

Jamestown forced Jr. K-Wings' goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Alex Okicki made 11 stops and Marcus Due-Boje made 17. The Ironmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kalamazoo power plays.

Jamestown also got points from Daniel Cesarz, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brett Szajner also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Luc Gerdes, who had one and Nicholas Sierra, who had three.

Jamestown was unable to stop Kalamazoo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. K-Wings eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Kalamazoo also got a goal from Luc Boby as well. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Lucas Kohls and Mac McDonnell, who each chipped in one.

Joe Ballmer rejected 33 shots on goal for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kalamazoo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
