Behind a great game by elexie solovyev, who had one goal and three assists, the Texas Tornado defeated the Topeka RoadRunners, 8-1. Solovyev got on the board by slotting home a goal 8:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Scott Conway provided the assist. Solovyev dished an assist on Conway's goal that made the score 1-0 Texas at 4:56 into the first period. He then added assists on Nick Blas's goal at 17:24 into the third and on Conway's goal at 19:47 into the third.The win by Texas clinched the best of five series at 3-0. The Tornado's Hunter Leisner was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:03 into the third period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Texas made Topeka's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 31 shots and forcing 23 saves. Spencer Viele made 22 stops and Parker Butler made one. The Tornado cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. Texas got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Texas additionally got points from Blas, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jackson Leef, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Conway, who also had three goals and one assist. Jason Eddy also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Nick Neville, Max Shuart, and Mitchell Mueller, who contributed one a piece and Andrew Mayer and CJ Reuschlein, who each chipped in two. The RoadRunners forced the Tornado goalie Leisner to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Topeka also got a goal from Juraj Kucirko as well. More assists for Topeka came via Kevin Patterson and Trace Strahle, who contributed one a piece. Texas ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Topeka totaled 54 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the RoadRunners, Patterson and Kyle Sharkey were ejected from the contest.
