MacKinnon leads Pensacola to shutout victory over Knoxville

Ross MacKinnon recorded a shutout against the Knoxville Ice Bears as the Pensacola Ice Flyers picked up a 1-0 win.

The win by Pensacola clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Patrick Knowlton's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 9:07 in the third period. Brandon Vossberg picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers were led by Knowlton, who had one goal.

Pensacola put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Knoxville to score on any of its three power plays. The Ice Flyers forced the Ice Bears goalie Bryan Hince to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

More assists for Pensacola came via Tyler Soehner, who had one.

Knoxville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

The Ice Bears were led by Mark Van Vliet, who took four shots.

Ross MacKinnon made 29 saves for Pensacola on 29 shots. The Ice Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hince rejected 46 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
