Huntsville falls to Louisiana in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Louisiana IceGators' Weston Cydell scored 11:20 into overtime to beat the Huntsville Havoc, 2-1 (OT).

Louisiana evened the best of three series at 1-1 and forced a deciding game three.

The IceGators were led by goalie Dustin Carlson, who finished with 43 saves while allowing one goal. Carlson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest.

Huntsville's power play was ineffective against Louisiana's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The IceGators stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Louisiana kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jesse Kallechy made 60 saves on 62 shots.

Troy Ofukany also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Matt Miller, who had one and Matthew Robertson, who had two.

The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Huntsville's offense rang up 44 shots on the IceGators' net.

The Havoc were led by Matt Smyth, who scored the team's only goal. Smyth scored 3:55 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Justin Fox provided the assist.

Louisiana incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Huntsville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
