Bismarck rips Brookings, 6-0

The Bismarck Bobcats had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the Brookings Blizzard.

The win by Bismarck clinched the best of five series at 3-0.

The Bobcats were sparked by Matt Pohlkamp, who finished with one goal and one assist. Pohlkamp scored on the power play 1:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. Bismarck had gained a power play chance when Nikta Sokolov was whistled for too many men. Nate Repensky provided the assist.

The Bobcats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brookings power plays.

Bismarck also had goals scored by Cory Chapman, who had two and Stanislav Dzakhov, Bob Kinne, and Shane Omdahl, who scored one goal each. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Seth Blair, Adam Knochenmus, Evan Giesler, and Filip Starzynski, who contributed one a piece and Levi Blom and Chris Diver, who each chipped in two.

Brookings was led by Thomas Williams, who took four shots.

Bismarck took out Bryan Nies after he had made nine saves and installed Aaron Nelson in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the win. The Bobcats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Blizzard's Drew Weigman stopped 22 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Brookings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
