In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Catharines Falcons escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Welland Jr. Canadians. St. Catharines gained the winning advantage on a goal by Luke Karaim 25 seconds into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. The Falcons evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven. St. Catharines got the win behind a great game by Karaim, who had one goal and two assists. Welland was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. St. Catharines also got points from Jimmy Sheehan, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Dan MacEachern as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Yanni Rallis, who had two and Ben Walsh, Greg Jambrosich, and Tyler Jackson, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Canadians were helped by Braden Curry, who racked up one goal. Curry scored on the power play 9:45 into the third period to make the score 3-2 St. Catharines. Welland had gained a power play chance when Karaim was whistled for goalie interference. Chris Langdon picked up the assist. CJ Stellato also scored for Welland. More assists for Welland came via Brooker Muir, Chris Brown, and Derrik Vannas, who each chipped in one. Jonathon D Ilario rejected 28 shots on goal for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Canadians' Chris McDougall stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Welland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
