The Cornwall Colts survived a determined comeback attempt by the Carleton Place Canadians on the way to a 4-3 win. A goal by Michael Pontarelli put Cornwall up 4-2 in the second period, but Carleton Place pulled to within one on Brock Edwards's tally 13:24 into the third period. The Colts evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven. Cornwall's offense rang up 31 shots on the Canadians' net. Cornwall also got a goal from Khalid Alli as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Pierre Ouellette, who had two and Carl Belizario, Lawson MacDonald, and Alexandre Gendron, who contributed one a piece. Carleton Place kept the Colts' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Piccolino made 37 saves on 40 shots. Larry Smith also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Kevin Dufour and Alex Globke, who each chipped in one. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brendan Oneill made 27 saves for the Canadians on 31 shots. Carleton Place incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
