Huge game by Edwards boosts Carleton Place over Cornwall, 4-1

Behind a great game by Brock Edwards, who had one goal and two assists, the Carleton Place Canadians defeated the Cornwall Colts, 4-1.

Edwards beat Jordan Piccolino with a shot 11:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Globke provided the assist. Edwards dished an assist on Anthony McVeigh's goal that made the score 3-1 Carleton Place at 18:19 into the first period. He added another helper on Kevin Dufour's goal that made the score 4-1 Carleton Place at 11:19 into the second period.

With the win, Carleton Place evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Canadians' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cornwall power plays. Cornwall was unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Luke Martin also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Devin Campbell, who had one.

The Colts excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Carleton Place's defense shut down Cornwall's forwards for much of the game, and the Colts got off only 14 shots during the contest.

Cornwall was led by Stephen Johnson, who scored the team's only goal. Johnson scored 9:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall.

Brendan Oneill recorded 13 saves for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Colts' Piccolino stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
