Ottawa rides Millen to victory over Nepean, 5-1

Charlie Millen stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 5-1 victory over the Nepean Raiders.

The win by Ottawa broke a deadlock and gave the Senators a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Nepean's power play was ineffective against Ottawa's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Senators were led by Eric Witzel, who had one goal. Witzel scored 9:05 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Cameron Roth picked up the assist.

Ottawa forced the Raiders' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 45 shots and forcing 40 saves. Matt Zawadzki made 15 stops and Ryan Mulder made 25. The Senators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

Ottawa also got points from Owen Werthner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Joe Shecter, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Chris King, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ottawa also got a goal from Joey Champigny as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Greg Jansz, who had two and Ryan Collins, Paul Landry, and Eric Clitsome, who each chipped in one.

Nepean was led by Tanner Williams, who scored the team's only goal. Williams scored 28 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Zach Rodier provided the assist.

Ottawa incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Raiders incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
