Allen holds on for 4-2 win against Denver

The Denver Cutthroats tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Allen Americans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Allen made the score 4-0 on a goal by Brian McMillin at 3:46 in the third period, and Denver got as close as 4-2 when Brad Smyth scored 19:06 into the third period.

With the win, the Americans evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Allen's penalty kill excelled, as the Americans gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Allen stifled the Cutthroats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Americans were helped by Todd Robinson, who finished with two goals and one assist. Robinson scored the first of his two goals at 16:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Allen. Robinson's next tally made the score 3-0 Allen with 19:17 left in the third period. Darryl Bootland provided the assist. Allen additionally got points from McMillin, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Justin Kirsch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Trevor Ludwig as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Tyler Ludwig, Corbin Baldwin, and Kale Kerbashian, who contributed one a piece.

Denver excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Denver also got points from Jamie MacQueen, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Barry Goers, Troy Schwab, and A.J. Gale, who each chipped in one.

Aaron Dell made 25 saves for Allen on 27 shots. The Americans incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors. The Cutthroats' Kieran Millan stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Denver incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
