The Newmarket Hurricanes' Travis Dermott scored 6:19 into overtime to beat the Kingston Voyageurs, 3-2 (OT). The win by Newmarket clinched the best of seven series at 4-3. The Hurricanes nearly gave up a two-score lead. Newmarket made the score 2-0 on a power play goal by Justin Maiolino at 11:25 in the second period. Kingston got to within 2-1 on a goal by Ludlow Harris at 15:04 in the third period. The Hurricanes were led by Dermott, who had one goal and one assist. The Voyageurs were unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Newmarket also got points from Maiolino, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Newmarket also got a goal from Ian Farrell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were David Savery, who had one and Kyler Nixon, who had two. Kingston forced Newmarket goalie Matthew Wintjes to work between the pipes, taking 62 shots. Michael Casale also scored for Kingston. In addition, Kingston received assists from Graham Yeo, David Quesnele, and Dylan Hutton, who contributed one a piece. Wintjes rejected 60 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Charlie Finn recorded 40 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
