Newmarket falls to Kingston in overtime, 3-2 (OT)INVISTA Center Wed, Mar 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes on a clutch goal by Dylan Hutton. The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Voyageurs came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kingston was down 2-0 after a goal by Newmarket's Elliott Burlon at 15:35 in the first period. The Voyageurs knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Graham Yeo at 14:34 in the second period. Kingston was paced by Hutton, who registered one goal and one assist. Hutton scored 5:35 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Kingston. The Voyageurs forced the Hurricanes goalie Matthew Wintjes to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Kingston also got points from Michael Schug, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Yeo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Kingston received assists from Ludlow Harris, who had one. Newmarket kept Kingston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charlie Finn made 31 saves on 33 shots. The Hurricanes did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. More assists for Newmarket came via Travis Dermott, Brandon Francisco, Calvin Higley, and Kyler Nixon, who contributed one a piece. The Voyageurs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Matthew Wintjes made 40 saves for Newmarket on 43 shots. The Hurricanes registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
