Mississippi RiverKings had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Louisiana IceGators.

Mississippi RiverKings evened the best of three series at 1-1 and forced a deciding game three.

Darrell Stoddard had one goal and two assists to lead Mississippi RiverKings. Stoddard scored 9:12 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Tom Craig assisted on the tally.

Mississippi RiverKings made IceGators' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Dustin Carlson made 22 stops and Breton Lindoff made 10. Mississippi RiverKings stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Kevin Willer, who also had one goal and one assist and Matt Whitehead, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Matt Harrington also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Kyle Lundale, who had two.

The IceGators were led by Troy Ofukany, who finished with two goals. Ofukany scored the first of his two goals at 17:35 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Marc Andre Carre picked up the assist. Ofukany's next tally made the score 5-2 Mississippi RiverKings with 39 seconds left in the third period. Greg Brown assisted on the tally. More assists for Louisiana came via Shawn McNeil and Matt Miller, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings' Matthew Krahn stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Louisiana totaled 37 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. The IceGators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Foreman was ejected from the game.
