Missouri's King deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Rapid City

The Missouri Mavericks relied on the scoring touch of Colt King, who netted two goals, to beat the Rapid City Rush, 5-2.

King scored at 14:34 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Missouri and again while 18:18 into the third to make the score 4-2 Missouri.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Rapid City faces elimination next time out.

Missouri stifled the Rush's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Missouri also got points from Kellen Tochkin, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Missouri also got a goal from Ryan Jardine as well. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Sebastien Thinel, who had two and Trevor Kell, J.P. Testwuide, Blake Forsyth, Andrew Courtney, and John-Scott Dickson, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City was led by Rusty Masters, who tallied two goals. Masters scored the first of his two goals at 2:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Scott Brannon provided the assist. Masters' next tally made the score 2-1 Rapid City with 2:07 left in the second period. Scott Wray assisted on the tally. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Kyle Stroh and Taggart Desmet, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks' Mike Clemente stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Missouri incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Danny Battochio made 14 saves for the Rush on 18 shots. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
