Rapid City beats Missouri 3-0 as Boron gains shutout

Tim Boron recorded a shutout against the Missouri Mavericks as the Rapid City Rush picked up a 3-0 win.

The win gave Rapid City a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Rush were sparked by Winston Day Chief, who had one goal. Day Chief scored 12:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Jared Brown picked up the assist.

Rapid City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Rush kept Missouri's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mike Clemente made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Scott Wray also scored for Rapid City. More assists for Rapid City came via Jesse Schultz, who had two and Kyle Peto and Michael Couch, who contributed one a piece.

The Mavericks stifled Rapid City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Missouri forced the Rush goalie Boron to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Mavericks were led by Andrew Courtney, who took five shots.

Boron rejected 31 shots on goal for Rapid City. The Rush incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Missouri incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
