Wichita downs Arizona in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Les Reaney gave the Wichita Thunder a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Arizona Sundogs when he scored 4:13 into the extra period.

The win by Wichita clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Gregor Hanson had two goals to lead the Thunder to victory. Hanson found the back of the net 9:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita and again while on the power play 5:44 into the second to make the score 2-1 Wichita.

Wichita forced Arizona goalie David Brown to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Wichita additionally got points from Reaney, who also had one goal and one assist and Kevin Young, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Wichita came via Chad Painchaud, who had two and RG Flath and Matt Robinson, who contributed one a piece.

The Sundogs were led by Mario Larocque, who finished with one goal and two assists. Larocque scored 12:11 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kip Brennan provided the assist. Arizona also got points from Johan Ryd, who also registered one goal and one assist and Cody Purves, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Arizona received assists from Ron Meyers, who had one.

Torrie Jung rejected 27 shots on goal for the Thunder. Wichita incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brown recorded 34 saves for Arizona. The Sundogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
