Brisbane Goannas wins tough contest against North Star Sirens, 4-2HISS Sun, Mar 10, 2013 In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Brisbane Goannas escaped with a 4-2 victory over North Star Sirens. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kelly Costa at 30 seconds of the third period. Natasha Farrier was all over the ice for Brisbane Goannas, as she tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Farrier scored the first of her two goals short handed at 11:20 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Brisbane Goannas found itself down a man on Melinda White's tripping. Farrier's next tally short handed made the score 4-2 Brisbane Goannas with 14:07 left in the third period. Brisbane Goannas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four North Star Sirens power plays. With 28 shots on target during the contest, Brisbane Goannas exceeded the 3.3 shots it averages per game this year. Brisbane Goannas also got a goal from Michelle Clark-Crumpton as well. In addition, Brisbane Goannas received assists from Tracy Hocutt, who had one. North Star Sirens stifled Brisbane Goannas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. North Star Sirens put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.9 it averages per game. North Star Sirens was helped by Anna Ruut, who had one goal.
