Adelaide Adrenaline survives Brisbane Goannas comeback, wins 6-5

Brisbane Goannas tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Adelaide Adrenaline held on for a 6-5 victory.

Adelaide Adrenaline took a 6-3 lead during the third period, only to have Brisbane Goannas storm back on a Kelly Costa goal 15:56 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Adelaide Adrenaline was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes. Adelaide Adrenaline's offense was clicking better than usual and put 44 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.7 shots per game it averages.

Adelaide Adrenaline was led by Andrea Steranko, who grabbed three goals. Adelaide Adrenaline additionally got points from Sari Lehmann, who also registered one goal and one assist. Adelaide Adrenaline also got a goal from Meridith Boyce as well. Other players who recorded assists for Adelaide Adrenaline were Taylor Botterill, who had one and Bethanie Kavanagh, who had two.

Brisbane Goannas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Adelaide Adrenaline to score on any of its four power plays. Brisbane Goannas put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 3.4 it averages per game.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Natasha Farrier, who racked up two goals and two assists. Farrier scored the first of her two goals at 9:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Adelaide Adrenaline. Michelle Clark-Crumpton assisted on the tally. Farrier's next tally made the score 3-3 with 10:00 left in the second period. Jemma Wallace picked up the assist. Brisbane Goannas also got points from Clark-Crumpton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tamra Jones also scored for Brisbane Goannas. In addition, Brisbane Goannas received assists from Tiffany Samain-Venning, who had one.

Michelle Coonan rejected 32 shots on goal for Adelaide Adrenaline. Brisbane Goannas' Kristy Bruske stopped 38 shots out of the 44 that she faced. Brisbane Goannas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
